Shane Devoy's Tuggeranong end long wait with a bang in Cricket ACT Gallop Cup

"Our total might reflect that," the Tuggeranong Valley skipper said.

But it was enough to secure a 72-run win over Eastlake in the Cricket ACT Gallop Cup at Kingston Oval on Saturday.

Tuggeranong had waited all season for their one-day campaign to begin after their previous four games were washed out, bringing them past the halfway point of the competition without actually playing a 50-over match.

They seemed in all sorts at 4-19 early before limping to 143 on the back of Devoy (36) and a 35-run stand for the final wicket between Nikesh Joseph (29) and Lewis Evans (13).

Yet Eastlake's innings started like a mirror image, stumbling to 4-28 before losing their final five wickets for seven runs to be bundled out for 69, with Devoy claiming 4-13 from eight overs.

"The atmosphere, theatre and energy you can build in the ring in a one-day game was something we enjoyed. We used that excitement to generate some run-outs and a few good catches in the ring," Devoy said.

"Obviously the batting side of things didn't go the way we hoped it would today, but I think scores across both innings would suggest it was a tough wicket. To come away with a double bonus point victory is always a good show.

"To get the extra two points there and have those in the kitty heading into the first two rounds after Christmas is obviously very important for us and our goal to get into the finals and seeing where we can go from there.

"It's still a very young group, still a very talented group. We're still ironing out a few kinks but there is definitely enough talent in there to make a few things happen."

Meanwhile, Tyler Van Luin stole the show for Queanbeyan in their clash with Western District, taking 5-53 with the ball and backing it up with an unbeaten 99 in the successful run chase.

Van Luin blasted eight sixes in a run-a-ball 99 to power Queanbeyan over the line with a ball to spare, finishing on 7-263 in reply to Wests' 259.

Josh Myburgh's 62 saw Weston Creek Molonglo prevail by four wickets against Ginninderra at Stirling Oval after Tom Atallah had racked up 4-34 with the ball for the hosts.

ANU overcame a Ben Taylor masterclass (71 runs and 3-21 with the ball) as they secured a four-wicket win over North Canberra-Gungahlin on the back of rising batsmen Felix Ford (46*) and Dan Leerdam (44) at ANU South Oval.
