But Cavalry manager Keith Ward was happy to split the series with the Melbourne Aces, despite going down 8-2 to them at Narrabundah Ballpark on Sunday night.
They managed to win the opening game of the series 8-4 on Boxing Day.
Morimando is looking to get back to Major League Baseball, where he had two starts with the Cleveland Indians in 2016.
"Halfway through that game Morimando's throwing a great game so we were right in it until the fifth, but we just didn't do enough offensively to probably back him," Ward said.
"The game got out of control a little bit. Guys missed their location, guys are under done.
"The challenge for us is just to find a way to keep getting better every day."
It was a case of swings and roundabouts. This time it was Canberra on the wrong end of a five-run innings.
The Melbourne Aces leapt out to an unassailable lead courtesy of their seventh frame.
It was the same number of runs the Cavalry managed to drive in in their come-from-behind victory on Saturday.
Cavalry reliever Rhys Niit got into some trouble on Sunday night, giving up a run and loading the bases before he left the game.
But that didn't stop the Aces driving in another four runs to wrap it up.
The Cavalry got out to an early lead, with Canberra catcher Robbie Perkins driving in Cam Warner to open the scoring.
Then first-base Boss Moanaroa hit a solo home run to make it 2-0 after four innings.
But then ex-Cavalryman Kyle Perkins started the visitors' comeback.
He drove in a run and then Melbourne shortstop Darryl George drove him home to level it.
A Damek Tomscha homer put the Aces ahead and they never let it go - his sacrifice fly brought in the fifth run in the seventh.
Due to the Sydney coronavirus cluster, it's unclear when the Cavalry's next ABL game will be - although they will play a scrimmage with themselves on New Year's Eve.
They're schedules to play the Sydney Blue Sox in a three-game series from January 1, but that might need to be postponed due to the ACT government's border restrictions - which are in place until at least New Year's Day.
The Cavalry's next games might not be until their four-game series against the Perth Heat at Narrabundah from January 7-10.
