Authorities are investigating reports of a great white shark being caught and killed in the Perkins Bay area near Smithton on Tasmania's far north-west coast.

The Marine Police and the Department of Primary Industries Water and Environment are conducting the investigation.
The Police are now asking members of the public who have any information, including videos or images of the incident which occurred on the weekend, to come forward.
Anyone with information should contact Western Marine and Rescue Services on 131444 or report to Fish Watch on 0427 655 557.
