Eden SES unit commander Patricia Daly confirmed the car was unoccupied and the heavy rains and flooding had likely washed the car into the water from a nearby paddock.
She also said the car had apparently been up in a tree at one point.
A Fire and Rescue team and an SES flood rescue team from Victoria who had come to the Far South Coast to back local services up with flooding events were in attendance, along with the Eden SES reconnaissance team, a Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter from Moruya and NSW Police.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the police had made contact with the owner of the vehicle.
