Not only is it National Volunteer Week but as part of the week, NSW State Emergency Service hosts Wear Orange Wednesday, May 19, a special day to thank and acknowledge its volunteers.

On the day, everyone is encouraged to wear something orange as a small way of showing thanks to the service's volunteers, who have certainly been busy in the last week.
In the recent wet weather the Eden and Bega Units had about 50 call outs for assistance mainly from the Eden and Bega areas, unit commander Patricia Daly said.
"There were a lot of sandbags required and we had support from the RFS crews in filling them. There was inundation in homes, trees across roads and a few leaky roofs," Ms Daly said.
"With the amount of wet weather we've had previously the ground was pretty wet and there was nowhere for the rain to go."
The Eden Unit is always looking for volunteers and would welcome interest from anyone with computer skills, even if they are not necessarily looking for active service on the ground. Contact Patricia on 0458 737 160 for more information.
