Broncos coach Kevin Walters dismisses Josh Hodgson approach

And Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart made it clear he wouldn't let his star hooker go anyway.

Hodgson's been at the centre of persistent rumours linking him to a switch to the Broncos - as early as this year - even though he's contracted to the Green Machine until the end of 2022.

The Raiders haven't been approached by either the Broncos or Hodgson's management for permission to talk to other clubs.

Hodgson was excellent in the Raiders' 38-16 thrashing of the Broncos at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night.

He put props Emre Guler and Josh Papalii over for tries with short balls and was lively running out of dummy half - making two tackle busts as well as 31 tackles.

If it's not Walters looking to prise Hodgson away from his former club, perhaps it's the 31-year-old's management - the banned Isaac Moses' company.

"No, that's not something - he's still contracted to the Raiders so out of respect to Josh and the Raiders, we'll leave that one alone," Walters said.

Stuart won't entertain an early release anyway.

"He's on contract to us. He was brilliant [Saturday night]. He was a big reason why we played so well, as all our other leaders were," he said.

"I'm very happy to have Hodgo here mate. He's on contract to us. I keep hearing it, but I don't take any action on it. I don't even talk to Hodgo about it.

"He's here and I'm the lucky one because he's a brilliant player and he's a big part of our football team."
