Stay-at-home Covid orders imposed for residents returning from parts of WA, QLD

Canberrans currently under stay-at-home orders due to the outbreak in the Northern Territory will also remain under those rules for a further 72 hours.

ACT Health has updated travel advice for the three jurisdictions as they each tackle growing COVID-19 outbreaks.

Western Australia's Perth and Peel regions have been plunged into a snap lockdown from Tuesday.

ACT Health said residents returning to Canberra from those affected areas would be under stay-at-home requirements from midday Tuesday until 11.59pm Friday.

Anyone who has spent time in the Perth or Peel regions since June 22 must complete an online declaration form on the ACT COVID-19 website.

"This is to ensure we are able to contact people if travel directions need to be escalated in the coming days," ACT Health said.

Meanwhile, parts of Queensland have also been sent into a three-day lockdown from 6pm Tuesday, after two new COVID-19 cases in the community.

ACT Health has mirrored that lockdown and imposed stay-at-home requirements for residents returning from the following areas; Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, the Scenic Rim, the Gold Coast, Townsville, Magnetic Island and Palm Island.

The rules will be introduced from 6pm Tuesday and be in place until 11.59pm Friday.

Anyone who has spent time in those regions since June 19 must complete an online declaration form.

A snap lockdown of Darwin, the City of Palmerston and Litchfield council areas in the Northern Territory has been extended after a seventh COVID-19 case was reported from an outbreak linked to a central Australian mine.

Anyone in the ACT who is subject to stay-at-home rules as a result of that lockdown will remain under those requirements for another 72 hours until 1.30pm Friday.

Anyone who has spent any time in those regions between June 18 and 4pm June 27 does not need to follow the stay-at-home requirement but must complete an online declaration form.

ACT Health has urged residents to reconsider interstate travel amid the escalating situation in several states.

"This is a stark reminder for all Canberrans to reconsider interstate travel at this time, "ACT Health said in a statement.

"All Canberrans should be avoiding any COVID-19 affected areas. If you must travel for essential reasons, you must abide by all public health directions in place in the jurisdiction you travel to and the ACT.

"This includes changing travel plans and adhering to public health instructions upon your return."

ACT Health will be updating the ACT COVID-19 website with exposure locations every day at 10am and 6pm.

"If you are returning to the ACT please be extra vigilant when monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested immediately if you experience even the mildest of symptoms."
