Sydney residents at Perisher fined for alleged breach of Covid lockdown laws

A 34-year-old, 37-year-old and a 38-year-old man were alleged to be in breach of public health orders when they couldn't provide a reasonable excuse for leaving their Sydney homes.

A 28-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from Sydney's eastern suburbs were also issued with infringements. Police say they were at Perisher without exemption to travel.

Monaro Superintendent John Klepczarek said now is not the time for people in locked-down areas to be travelling to the state's south.

"If you are from an area covered under the public health order, you cannot leave your home without a valid reason," Superintendent Klepczarek said.

"Going on holiday is not a valid reason."

Several Snowy Mountains venues have also been issued with COVID-19 non-compliance breaches, as part of police's crackdown during the snow season.

A Thredbo motel, a hotel in Jindabyne and a hotel on Kosciuszko Road have also been found to have breached license agreements since the start of the season.
