Anti Covid lockdown protesters arrested at Parliament House

Three people were arrested following two separate protests staged at Parliament House and Government House.

Police said approximately 20 people gathered at the two locations. More infringements are expected to be handed down.

Two vehicles involved in the protests were directed to leave the ACT.

ACT Policing have now issued directions to 161 people to leave the capital, and another 200 people have been issued exclusion or return home directions within Canberra.

A total of 24 infringement notices and 46 cautions had been issued during the lockdown, as of 8am on Tuesday.

Chief Police Officer for the ACT, Deputy Commissioner Neil Gaughan said the ACT was still in lockdown and it was important that people were sensible and continued to do the right thing.

"I know people are still digesting today's announcement but we ask the people use common sense when looking at the changes," Chief Police Officer Gaughan said.

Meanwhile, police have broken up more than 70 mini-protests against COVID-19 lockdowns across NSW and arrested more than 150 people.

The 79 protests on Tuesday occurred both in Sydney and regionally, and were focused primarily on local council buildings. Small protests took place at NSW Parliament House and Government House.

Three police officers sustained injuries in protests at Lismore, Murwillumbah and Raymond Terrace.

A total of 573 fines were issued for breaches of public health orders across the state.
