Supermarkets, fresh food markets listed as exposure sites

ALDI Gungahlin was a casual contact site last Sunday between 6.40pm and 7.40pm, while Woolworths Dickson was on Wednesday between 1.45pm and 2.40pm.

The ACT's Chief Minister Andrew Barr made an urgent plea for people with COVID symptoms to get tested immediately, expressing concern about the troubling statistic.

Mr Barr said part of the reason for the high number of people infectious in the community was people had waited to get tested after developing symptoms.

Emart Asian Supermarket in Canberra City was also a casual contact site on Monday between 1.20pm and 2.45pm.

Also on the casual contacts list was Kan Sushi & Poké in Canberra City, and JAGA Swanson Court in Belconnen.

Further locations for casual contacts added later on Saturday include locations in Chisholm, Gungahlin and Mawson.

They include the Coles Chisholm on three days, including August 25, August 30 and September 1.

The Aldi Chisholm was also listed as an exposure site on August 25 for between 12.30pm and 1.45pm.

Another Aldi in Gungahlin was also listed from between 6.40pm and 7.40pm on August 29.

The Woolworths Mawson was listed in the latest update as an exposure site as a casual contact venue, from 5.10pm to 6pm on August 28.

Locations added to the list with advice to monitor for symptoms are in the suburbs of Canberra City, Conder, Dickson, Florey, Fyshwick, Gungahlin and Palmerston.

A further update on Saturday afternoon also added monitor for symptoms venues in Belconnen, Calwell, Casey, Chisholm, Holy, Macquarie, Mawson, Mitchell, Nicholls, Phillip, Wanniassa and Weston.

Canberra Centre is listed for Monday between 11.30am and 7.30pm.

People who attended Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets on Sunday between 10.20am and 12pm should also monitor for symptoms.

A number of the stalls at the markets are also listed for specific times on Sunday.

Australia Post in Fyshwick is also a "monitor" site for Friday between 11.05am and 11.50pm.

Friendly Grocer Narrabundah is too, for periods on Wednesday and Tuesday.

Wait times at Canberra's testing centres are generally low for the moment, the most being upwards of 30 minutes at EPIC drive-through.

Rain is affecting Canberra's drive-through clinics though, with Brindabella closed and Kambah potentially set to close.

Of the 18 cases reported in the ACT yesterday, 15 were in the community for at least part of their infectious period.
