Construction sites among new Canberra COVID exposure locations

Yarra Rossa Construction Site at 51 Hicks Street was a casual contact sites on Tuesday and Wednesday between 7am and 4pm, as well as Thursday between 7am and 10.30am.

On Sunday evening, ACT updated City Family Practice in city between 11am and 12.30pm on Friday as a casual exposure site.

Level three of the Services Australia building in Greenway between 8.20am and 5pm has been deemed a casual exposure site, as has the Calypso Cafe located at the federal department complex.

Renaissance Manuka Worksite in Griffith was also a casual exposure site last Saturday, between 7.20am and 1pm.

Pharmacies in Petrie and Watson have also been flagged as potential exposure locations, with people told to monitor for symptoms.

Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said on Sunday that none of the 17 new cases reported were linked to construction sites.

"It was of course extraordinarily disappointing the other day to see the compliance checks on sites identifying breaches of those COVID safety plans, or not having COVID safety measures appropriately in place," she said.

"I do want to acknowledge that there were some construction sites that were visited that had absolutely fantastic COVID safety plans in place, and were doing everything right."

Busy Bees at Crace has been added for Wednesday between 8.45am and 2.30pm.

The childcare centre is one of the seven public sites of transmission in the ACT.

The Health Minister as well as Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman also observed that a trend of less transmission occurring at public sites was beginning to emerge.

"We have no new additional public sites of transmission to add to the list today, and none of our new cases are linked to these current public sites," Dr Coleman said.

"I have noticed a bit of a trend in this information which is good news, so it's starting to give us an indication that we're not seeing transmission at many public sites."

Fewer sites listed as close or casual contact locations was also good news, the Health Minister said.

City Family Practice was updated to reflect that it was a casual exposure site on Friday between 11am and 12.30pm.

ALDI Conder, Woolworths Conder, ALDI Weston Creek, Coles Belconnen, Coles Wanniassa, Woolworths Dickson and Pacifik Halal Meats are also new or updated casual contact sites.

Locations in Banks, Belconnen, Braddon, Canberra City, Casey, Conder, Fyshwick, Holt, Phillip, Waniassa and Watson were also listed with advice to monitor for symptoms.
