After a break that "feels like it's taken forever", the former Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder is desperately keen to begin a new chapter in her career under Vicki Linton in the ACT.
Middleton's signature is the latest in a recent signing spree which this week has also included locking in French international Margot Robinne and young gun Holy Caspers.
"Looking from the outside they [Canberra United] have such a good environment," Middleton said.
"It's something that anyone would want to be a part of. How well the girls did last year under Vicki really made me want to join."

The 25-year-old started five matches for Wanderers in last summer's W-League, and spent this year playing with the Illawarra Stingrays in the WNPL, prior to the competition shutting down to COVID-19 enforced lockdowns across NSW.
She'll take her place for United in the recently rebranded A-League Women competition, an initiative announced by Australian Professional Leagues this week.
"That's such a good step forward for football in Australia," Middleton said.
