ACT police seeing help after extensive fire damage to Miles Franklin Primary School, Evatt, grounds

ACT Policing responded to reports of the blaze about 6pm on Friday, and believe it was deliberately lit by a group of young people about 5.45pm.

Authorities have also heard reports suggesting that the same group were prevented from lighting a fire at St Monica's Primary School about half an hour earlier.

Police have released descriptions of the four young males of interest based on witness reports all four of whom are described as being of Caucasian appearance:

The first was approximately 182 to 187cm tall, of solid build, and was wearing a bright yellow hooded jumper. He had one arm in a black sling and may have been wearing white shorts.

The second and third members of the group were about 177 to 182cm tall and wearing dark clothing, the fourth youth was approximately 172cm tall and wearing a cap.

Members of the public operating CCTV cameras or a dash-cam in the area around the schools on Friday afternoon has been urged to check their system to see if it captured footage of the group.
