Solar panels grant for Merimbula Marine Rescue

Unit commander Sonia Teston thanked the federal government for the Powering our Communities Grant.

"This grant will not only have a positive effect on the environment and our costs, but it will support a local business Lakeside Electrical who will supply and install the panels," Ms Teston said.

To help celebrate the grant success Marine Rescue Merimbula was visited by member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain who congratulated the unit on it's success in the grants bid. A morning tea allowed everyone to hear about the role of Marine Rescue Merimbula and tour the base and rescue vessels.

This grant followed on from another successful grant bid through Foundation For Rural and Regional Renewal to purchase a computer and associated equipment from funds donated by Global Giving.

Unit commander Sonia Teston said it was vital to operate with the latest and most reliable equipment to ensure we can continue with our role of saving lives on the water.
