Even on the back of lockdowns in 2020, Black Friday, Cyber Weekend and Cyber Monday sales attracted buyers from all across Australia.
Held from November 26-29, this year is set to be no different as Australians get ready for Christmas from the comfort of their own homes.
Tens of thousands of retailers are expected to run deals across the weekend, with some even kicking off early and running up to a week after.
If you have been putting off those big purchases now is the time to buy with big brands offering up to 70 per cent off.
So what is Black Friday and Cyber Weekend?
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. It signals the start of the Christmas holiday shopping season and is synonymous with "doorbuster" sales, the kind of specials that see people lined up ready to charge through doors the second they open.
And it has spread throughout the decades to other countries, for whom Thanksgiving is not a national holiday. In Australia, Black Friday now competes with Boxing Day as our biggest shopping extravaganza and is perfectly positioned to start the run into the year's biggest gift-giving event, Christmas.
While COVID-19 may have spelled the end of the "doorbuster", there will be plenty of great deals to be found in-store and online.
Just some of the big brands already marketing they will be a part of this huge shopping event, include Catch, eBay, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Target, Harvey Norman, Dyson and Amazon, just to name a few.
As Black Friday gains in popularity in Australia, more retailers than ever are hopping on the bandwagon and offering greater discounts.
Improving internet speeds, coupled with online retailers' desire to capitalise on Black Friday-style spending, saw Cyber Monday emerge in the mid-2000s.
It became a particularly attractive day for the launch and promotion of tech and has since grown to include specials on goods of all kinds.
Unsurprisingly, as brick and mortar stores have increased their online presence and online shopping has become more common, the line between these shopping days has blurred, and Cyber Weekend was born.
While you may see some offers in-store, the biggest and best savings always happen online - so it pays to have your favourite online retailers bookmarked and ready to go.
Between Black Friday, Cyber Weekend and Cyber Monday there are three major categories to watch on Australian Coupons this year, so be sure to check back every day because deals are changing all the time.
