ACT records four new cases of COVID-19, vaccination rate remains at 98.1 per cent

This comes after health authorities confirmed on Wednesday that a man in his 80s died with COVID-19 in the ACT.

The new cases bring the active total to 76.

There are five people in hospital because of COVID, with two in intensive care.

A total of 1645 negative tests were received in the 24 hours to 9am on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the percentage of the eligible population who are now fully vaccinated remains at 98.1 per cent.

Another 420 people in NSW have been diagnosed with COVID-19 after it was revealed a trivia night at a Sydney pub has sparked a new cluster of the virus.

The pub patrons were diagnosed after the trivia night at the popular Oxford Tavern in Petersham on November 30, Sydney Local Health District said on Wednesday night.

NSW now has 93 per cent of adults fully vaccinated for COVID-19 - just two per cent short of the goal nominated by Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant.

Victoria has reported 1232 new COVID-19 infections and a further nine deaths, as the state probes another two suspected Omicron variant cases.

The health department on Thursday confirmed the state was managing 11,224 active cases, down slightly from 11,331 on Wednesday.

There are 315 patients in hospital, 96 of whom are in intensive care and 27 requiring ventilation.

The seven-day hospitalisation average sits at 302.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has tested positive for COVID-19 while in the United States.

In a statement released on Thursday morning, Mr Joyce confirmed he had tested positive while on a trip to Washington, DC.
