While there were concerns the event would be called off this year due to the withdrawal of council funding, board members of Merimbula Tourism pitched the idea to local business houses and crowdfunding donors to hopefully still get the fireworks off the ground so to speak.
Merimbula Tourism is auspicing the event.
Board member Lynn McColl said this week a number of supporters came to the party with funding enough to at least get the midnight fireworks display happening, although there will not be a 9pm one as in previous years.
There's no public event, just the fireworks display to enjoy from wherever you happen to be spending the evening.
It will be set off from Ford Park so that it will be visible right across town.
Ms McColl said everyone involved in organising the fireworks display was thankful for the support of the many business, locals and even visitors who got behind the campaign.
"This has been a great crowdfunding exercise and Merimbula Tourism really appreciates all who have donated," she said.
