Canberra records 20 new cases of COVID-19, vaccination rate remains at 98.3 per cent

The new cases bring the active total to 75.

There are four people in hospital because of COVID with none in intensive care or on ventilation.

There were 2152 negative tests received in the 24 hours to 9am Friday, down from Thursday's reporting which saw 2461 negative tests returned.

Meantime, the percentage of the eligible population who are now fully vaccinated remains at 98.3 per cent.

NSW reported a record number of new infections for the second day in a row on Friday, with 2213 people diagnosed with the virus from more than 127,000 tests in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday.

Victoria has reported 1510 new COVID-19 infections and another seven deaths, as the state's premier leaves isolation after testing negative for the virus.

The health department confirmed on Friday the state is now managing 12,578 active infections.

There are 386 patients in hospital, 82 of whom are actively infected with the virus in intensive care and 43 on ventilators.

The seven-day hospitalisation average has risen by 10 to 356.

This comes as Queensland government mandates face masks in essential retailers and on public transport as COVID-19 cases rise across the Sunshine State.
