Thursday's daily figure comes after 842 infections were reported on Wednesday.
There are 4297 documented active cases statewide, the ninth day in a row the number has increased.
New infections jumped from 569 on Monday to 820 on Tuesday, a shift health authorities have put down to the resumption of school earlier this month.
"While we have seen a slight uptick in cases over the last few days, this is not unexpected," Premier Peter Gutwein told reporters.
"As we have seen in other states who opened a couple of weeks ahead of us, it's exactly what they went through as well."
More than 40 schools have reported outbreaks, defined as five or more cases in a classroom setting.
Twelve people in hospital have the virus, with three of those being treated specifically for COVID-19 symptoms. Two patients are in intensive care.
Tasmania has announced it will drop proof of vaccination requirements for incoming travellers at 12.01am on Saturday.
It means unvaccinated travellers will be allowed entry without having to seek approval or undergo quarantine when they arrive.
More than 96 per cent of Tasmanians aged over twelve have received two vaccine doses, and 55 per cent of the 16-plus population have been given a booster shot.
Tasmania has recorded 11 virus deaths since reopening to fully vaccinated travellers on December 15, and a total of 24 since the beginning of the pandemic.
