Russian social media influencers have bid tearful goodbyes to their millions of followers following President Vladimir Putin's move to ban some platforms across the nation.

Instagram user Olga Buzova posted a story to her 23.1million followers on Monday telling them in her native Russian that "It feels like a big part of my heart and my life is being taken away from me".
Many influencers shared similar sentiments telling of how they had managed to leverage their accounts to become a source of income.
Meanwhile, world leaders and celebrities are continuing to take to social media to share their condemnation of President Putin's military movements in Ukraine.

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger took to twitter in a video alleging the Russian people have been lied to by their president.
"This is an illegal war," Schwarzenegger said.
"Your lives, your limbs, your futures are being sacrificed for a senseless war condemned by the entire world."
Earlier this week, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his concern that Europe could soon face a fullscale war with Russia.
"Our forces are the only full-fledged army on the European continent," Mr Macron said in French.
"We need to prepare for a possible high-intensity armed conflict and increase investment [in the army]."
American President Joe Biden echoed the sentiments, calling Mr Putin a "murderous dictator" and a "pure thug".
