Brumbies put rookie Lachlan Albert on standby while Nic White waits for baby

Lachlan Albert was called into the Brumbies' touring squad on Wednesday, leaving Canberra with the rest of the team while White remained in the capital.

His wife Mel is due to give birth to their third son in the coming days, but White is booked to follow the team on Thursday to prepare for the clash against the Western Force.

If White stays in Canberra, Albert will be thrown into Super Rugby for his debut two years after emerging as one of the best schoolboy prospects in Australia.

"The plan is for [White] to travel on Thursday to give him every chance," said coach Dan McKellar.

"If it doesn't go according to plan, we've got Plan B and Lachie Albert is ready to step in if required."

The Brumbies are unbeaten through the first five rounds and are the only team yet to taste defeat.

But the Force almost caused a major round-one boilover in Canberra, with Lachlan Lonergan saving the Brumbies from defeat with a last-minute try.

"We didn't take a lot [out of that]. We were pretty disappointed with how we fronted up," McKellar said.

"We just didn't value possession, we didn't get any continuity going in our game or put them under stress. We know we've got to be better.

"We've got to be really disciplined, we just have to get our attitude right."
