One in five adults in Germany says they have a tattoo, a new survey conducted by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of dpa has revealed.

Twenty-one per cent of respondents say they have a tattoo, while 76 per cent do not and the rest did not specify.
As many as 27 per cent say they find the sight of tattoos "very beautiful" or "beautiful." In contrast, 20 per cent find tattoos "not at all beautiful" and 12 per cent "not so beautiful."
Many - namely 36 per cent - say they sometimes like the sight of tattoos and sometimes they do not, while the rest did not give an answer.
Women find tattoos more beautiful than men, with 32 per cent saying so versus 21 per cent of men.
Young adults seem to be particular tattoo fans, with 43 per cent of respondents between 18 and 25 years old finding them very beautiful or rather beautiful.
The data used is based on an online survey by YouGov Deutschland GmbH in which 2042 people took part between June 14 and 16, 2022. The results were weighted and are representative of the population in Germany aged 18 and over.
