She and husband Prince Harry made a surprise appearance alongside Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, outside the royal residence on Sunday where thousands of mourners had gathered.
Their appearance together drew cheers from the public as they made their way down the gravel path from the castle.
The couples spent time looking at notes, tributes and flowers left by the public in honour of Queen Elizabeth, with Harry and Meghan often walking hand in hand.
All four then spoke to some of the wellwishers who gathered along the street, with many passing on flowers and kind words to the royals.
During the walk Meghan spoke to many who offered their sympathies and even hugged a woman in the crowd.

Footage of the walkabout showed one woman avoiding eye contact with Meghan by looking down, and then she begins smirking as the former royal walks past.
"Lady in the blue having none of it," one person posted to Twitter about the woman in the crowd.
Many were surprised to see the two brothers together following their reported feud, and Harry and Meghan's relocation to the United States.
The two couples had little interaction with each other during the walk.
A well wisher said it was lovely to see the brothers together again.
"It really just draws a line under what's happened historically and it's a really strong sense of unity for the Royal Family," she said.
