Resident Iain Sedgman said a hot-air balloon almost landed in his front paddock at Arapiles, just before 8am on Tuesday.
He said the hot-air balloon, shaped like a fish or parrot with several breasts on each side, then rose and continued on without landing.
Mr Sedgman said there was a second, more conventional balloon in the sky at the same time.
Pimpinio woman Judy Ellis confirmed that her daughter Sarah was not flying the balloons.
A former Pimpinio resident, Sarah first became involved in ballooning in 2003 and has a pilot's licence.
"She's a long way from here at the moment,'' Mrs Ellis said.
