Support pours in for victims of Hunter Valley bus crash

The Go Fund Me page reached $21,159 more than the $100,000 target in less than 24 hours.

The NSW Government has also pledged $100,000 for a charity fund co-managed by the state government and Rotary.

The money was allocated from the NSW Premier's Discretionary Fund which supports community projects.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said "when tragic events like this occur, it's the Australian way to reach out and support one another".

"I know many people are looking at ways to support the families affected by this heartbreaking accident," he said.

"I encourage people to donate directly through the website - it's the quickest way to get funds to those who need them most," he said.

Meanwhile, the Singleton Rotary Club expects to raise $1 million for the Hunter bus crash victims through the official fundraiser.

Acting president Gerard McMillan said the club planned to establish a separate fundraiser for the two children orphaned by the incident.

"That's going to be ongoing," he said.

"It's just ripping the community apart. We'll just come together and do what we can," he said.

The bus was carrying 36 people when it entered a roundabout on Wine Country Drive and rolled onto the passenger side, falling onto a guardrail, about 11.30pm on June 11.

Wedding attendee and The Hunter River Times deputy editor Alex Tigani warned "unofficial" crowdfunding pages were circulating.

"Community alert: after Sunday's tragedy there are multiple Go Fund Me pages which are circulating across social media," he said.

Many of the people lost in the tragedy were involved in the Singleton Roosters AFL Club, which established a Go Fund Me page on June 13.

The Singleton Roosters AFC said "thank you to all who have asked us where they can continue to donate".

They recommend donations go through the Rotary site.

"The fund will be able to collect and dispense swiftly to those in need," the crowdfunding page said.

"We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and love towards all who are suffering," Singleton Roosters AFC said.

The Warrandyte Cricket Club has established a Go Fund Me page for the bus crash victims from Victoria.

They said they've been "overwhelmed with messages of support and are raising funds through this page to support the local victims who are expected to start coming home in the coming days and weeks to come".

"These victims and their families will need ongoing support for some time," the Go Fund Me page said.
