AGED CARE
* A 15 per cent interim pay rise is coming into effect for aged care workers
* The pay rise can equate to an extra $10,000 a year for nurses on the award and an extra $7000 a year for some personal care workers
* Aged care facilities will also have to have a registered nurse onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with some exemptions for small facilities in rural and remote areas
TAX
* Australians will get a fairer return on their natural resources under changes to the Petroleum Resources Rent Tax, which will introduce a cap on the industry's use of deductions
* Small and medium businesses will be able to claim an additional 20 per cent deduction on spending that supports efficient energy use and electrification
PARENTAL LEAVE
* The Parental Leave Pay and Dad and Partner Pay schemes are combining into a single 20-week scheme
* The change is expected to benefit 180,000 families a year
MIGRATION
* New Zealanders who have been living in Australia for four or more years will be able to apply to become Australian citizens
* The temporary skilled migration income threshold is increasing from $53,900 to $70,000
* UK passport holders will be able to apply for a working holiday visa up until the age of 35, rather than 30
HOUSING
* Eligibility for the Home Guarantee Scheme is expanding, with 50,000 new places available
* The National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation's liability cap is receiving a $2 billion boost to support more lending to community housing providers
CHILDCARE SUBSIDY
* The childcare subsidy is increasing from July 10, reducing costs for 1.2 million families
* Families who earn $120,000 a year and have one child in care are expected to save about $1700 annually on childcare
