The charges include 136 counts of rape and 110 counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10.
The 45-year-old Gold Coast man was arrested in August 2022 before police launched an investigation into his time as childcare worker.
Police said he worked in 10 childcare centres while living in Brisbane from 2007 to 2013 and 2018 to 2022.
In between stints in Brisbane the man is alleged to have worked in an undisclosed overseas business between 2013 and 2014 before moving to Sydney to work at one centre between 2014 and 2017.
Police have not disclosed the names of any businesses where the man was employed.
But have said police are "confident" they've identified 87 Australian children shown in footage allegedly taken by the man.
The parents of all the Australian children recorded in the alleged child abuse material have been informed the police investigation is ongoing.
"I can assure members of the Australian public that if you have not been contacted by law enforcement, it is extremely unlikely your child was allegedly offended against by the man," assistant commissioner Justine Gough said.
Police said the children allegedly offended against were all pre-pubescent girls, some of which are now adults.
The case is scheduled for a mention in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 21.
"We know this type of news can re-traumatise survivors of sexual abuse, and, please, I urge those survivors to seek support, or talk to a trusted network, if today's news has caused distress," assistant commissioner Gough said.
