The Princess of Wales had apologised for "editing" a family photo after the image became the subject of a "kill notice" by major news wires over concerns it was manipulated.
On March 11, Catherine said in a tweet that "like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused".
The apology came after news agencies Associated Press, Australian Associated Press, Reuters and AFP decided to "kill" the image.
AP said it was "because at closer inspection, it appeared the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP's photo standards".
"The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte's left hand."
The photo was originally shared by Kensington Palace as a celebration of Mother's Day in Britain.
The image shared on Instagram shows Catherine sitting with her and Prince William's three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The photo also comes after months of speculation surrounding the Princess' health.
The Princess has been out of the public eye since January following a planned abdominal surgery.
Rumours surrounding the Princess' whereabouts have been prominent online, with many questioning why she has not been seen since the planned two week hospital stay.
Online posters have pointed out several supposed discrepancies within the image including hand placement and abnormalities with clothing.
