Dark web group Shiny Hunters claims to have hacked hundreds of millions of customer details from Live Nation.
Ticketmaster is a subsidiary of Live Nation, operating in 32 countries around the world.
The group is trying to sell the information for $US500,000 on the dark web, which they say includes 1.3 terabytes of customer data.
They allege they have the details of 560 million people.
There are over 5 million Australian and New Zealand Ticketmaster account holders alone.
A spokesperson from the Department of Home Affairs confirmed the incident to ACM saying they were "aware of a cyber incident impacting Ticketmaster".
"The National Office of Cyber Security is engaging with Ticketmaster to understand the incident," the spokesperson said.
Ticketmaster has not confirmed the data breach.
Customers have ripped into the company for keeping customers in the dark.
One person wrote: "I'm so over this BS. These huge companies that hold sensitive info need to be doing way more than the pathetic efforts to now. I was part of the Optus, Medibank, Latitude & now this! WTF."
A second queried why they had not been contacted about the breach:" They should immediately let us know- at least the date of the breach."
A third wrote they were mystified why everything had gone online: "It will never be safe online despite what they claim."
ACM has contacted Ticketmaster for comment.
