Davison edged out the pack by 0.0007 seconds during Sunday's top-10 shootout to claim the front row spot for the closing race at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The Dick Johnson Racing driver was the fourth-to-last to have a solo crack and his lap time of 1:29.919 seconds stood the test.
It is his 29th career pole and his first since taking top spot at New Zealand's Pukekohe in 2022.
"I'm really proud of that one," Davison said.
"I just haven't been nailing my shootout laps. I obviously wanted to be quick then but I just wanted to get the most out of myself like I felt I did in qualifying.
"I won't lie. It feels good."
Walkinshaw Andretti United's Chaz Mostert, who won the opening Sydney race, will share the front row with Davison after setting a near-identical lap time.
"I'll tell you what, that bloody Will Davison. I've been looking up to him all these years and he's still out here beating my bottom," Mostert said.
"I was super pumped with (my lap). I thought that would be hard to beat."
Matt Stone Racing's Nick Percat came third fastest with provisional polesitter Cam Waters (Tickford) in fourth.
