The house was "well alight" when firefighters arrived to the property early on Monday morning.
ACT Fire and Rescue received a call at 5.15am on April 29 when concerned locals saw flames coming from the Ijong Street home.
ACT Fire and Rescue acting commander Adam Gresham said it took crews from three trucks to put the fire out.
"When crews arrived there were flames through the roof and already structural collapse," he said.
"We just did a defensive attack, and put the fire out.
"The house was not lived in, apparently there were squatters in and out, but there is no evidence of anyone in there at all."
The fire was controlled on Monday morning, and ACT Emergency Services crews stayed at the site until late into the morning.
No injuries have been reported, and Ijong Street has reopened.
Mr Gresham said the site has been handed over to fire investigators and the Australian Federal Police.
"Following an examination of the scene, the fire was deemed suspicious, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident," police said in a statement.
"Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity of Ijong Street prior to 5.20am this morning, or who may have dash-cam footage from the area before or during the fire."
They asked anyone with information that could help them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website and quote 7735912.
